I open my door and step into windy, rainy, overdramatic weather. Highly unusual for my mellow San Diego, but in classic S.D. style, it’s all good. I’m stepping into a new outlook for the New Year. I know that I’m doing this eleven days late, but what do I care. Holiday in Cambodia rocks through my headphones and I walk purposefully towards my car.

This year I turn 30 and I’m so- o excited. It motivates me to meet this marker in good standing. Actually, fabulous standing is what I’m aiming for. I’m at the point where you sprint towards the goal, and for many fellow procrastinators, nothing actually gets done until the end.
At this point, I have about eight months before I turn 30. Today is the first day of work on the goal. I’m starting by attempting a one day master-cleanse type fast. I needed more physical energy to go with my motivated state and assumed there were probably some mysterious toxins to blame. This may even help get me back in the gym. Yay!
Another goal is to get my career-life in shape. I want to get it to the point where “what I do” sounds interesting at a cocktail party and is enjoyable too. I’m not materialistic, just stylistic.
My priority is to live life in high style and this is defined by combining classic and kitsch.
To wake up when you are rested, not when the alarm goes off.
To not dread going to work.
To eat interesting and flavorful foods.
To have great friends who are just as weird as you.
To marry the love of your life
To make your family proud.
To stay true to yourself
To break the rules with conviction
To feel free to go on and on and on…
This is what I will try to do with this column, so stay tuned and enjoy the ride.
